Speedup web pages loading in Firefox

Here’s a little tip for speeding up loading of websites. In Firefox and derivates install NoScript extension. What I’m going to say will make some people a little mad. Noscript will block all scripts by default including google analytics, which I find *very* slow to load, so it slows down sites loading speed.

I managed to get a genuine version of TomTom 7 through an online retailer named “demonfatal”, just google it. I believe you can get there eventually…

Impressora no Ubuntu

Como sempre, é muito fácil instalar uma impressora no Ubuntu, pelo menos a que eu tenho foi. Tenho uma Epson Stylus C65 e a única coisa necessária foi plugar o cabo USB e logo tive a seguinte opção:
Não foi preciso instalar nenhum driver, nenhum software, apenas plugar.
Ubuntu, simples fácil e funciona!!

In the first hand I’m announcing that Debian GNU/Linux Lenny is finally released and it’s homepage was updated 6 minutes ago, while I’m writing this post.

Joerg Jaspert, a Debian Developer, as made a blog post saying that today at 23:00 UTC Debian Lenny will be finally released and Squeeze will become the testing branch!
One more long awaited Debian release! Now I wish I could have acesss to my desktop so I could watch all those new packages comming to squeeze!

Não precisa mais de Consola nem Rato

Faz quase um ano que havia um bug aberto em trabalho onde na linguagem pt_BR o Terminal se chamava Consola e Mouse se chamava Rato, advindos da linguagem portuguesa (PT). Foi resolvido hoje já atualizei e testei e está funcionando como deveria. Veja abaixo os resultados:
E no lugar de Rato o bom Mouse:

O comando mkdir é usado para criar diretório. E ele tem algumas opções bem interessantes e úteis. Para criar um determinado diretório com prévia permissão basta usar -m como abaixo:
$ mkdir -m 755 novo_diretorio
Para se criar um caminho completo que ainda não existe, use -p, exemplo:
$ mkdir -p ~/caminho1/caminho2/caminho3
